Yes!, All our parts are currently manufactured under the FAA OPP( Owner Produced Parts) regulations. When you order the parts from us you instruct us to manufacture the part to be identical to the existing part and of similar or better quality. This allows us to manufacture the part for your aircraft and for you to legally fit the part to a Type certified Aircraft. FAR 21.303(b)(2). By giving us detailed instruction on the part dimension, material and structural use we can manufacture the part legally for you. You can never sell the part to be used in another aircraft but your own. All our parts are marked and numbered and we keep meticulous records of the registration of the specific aircraft it is manufactured for.

If the owner-produced part is to be used to effect a major repair – a wing spar, primary control surface or gear leg, for example – then the repair must be inspected and signed off by an A&P with Inspection Authorization (IA) and documented on FAA Form 337. Please ensure that you discuss the inspection with your A&P before ordering the part. In completing Form 337, the A&P/IA must certify that the owner-produced part conforms to FAA approved data

The owner makes and signs a logbook entry that identifies the part as owner produced under FAR21.303(b)(2) and attach the drawing and specification spec sheet provided by the manufacturer(AV Unlimited) and explain the owners participation in controlling the design, manufacture or quality of the part. Don’t forget to Sign and Date the entry. 

it is absolutely your choice, but keep in mind that the reason we produce these airworthy parts in this way – is due to the fact that our aircraft is ageing rapidly( some past 50 years old) and mostly not being supported by the manufacturers any longer. Some OEM parts are inferior in quality to the Owner Produced Parts we supply and sometimes ten times the price. So yes – it is absolutely worth the little bit of effort.
